Josephine Kahn

Josephine Hope (Tanton) Kahn, 92, passed away peacefully at her home in Peoria, Illinois, on Sunday July 27, 2014.
Josephine was born in Gridley, Illinois on February 16, 1922, the daughter of Thomas O. and Josephine (Garrison) Tanton. Joey graduated from Gridley High School and Brown’s Business College.
In 1947 she married Charles Kahn. Mr. Kahn was a Director and Vice Chairman of P.A. Bergner & Company. Together they traveled the world with numerous trips to Switzerland, Germany, Greece, Israel, South Africa, and the Orient. Mr. Kahn died in 1999 in Scottsdale, Arizona, where Josephine and Charles maintained a home for many years.
Josephine was also predeceased in death by her parents, her brothers, Stanford “Bud” Hale Tanton and Thomas J. Tanton, and her sister Mary Ann Irvin. She is survived by her nephews, John H. Tanton, Thomas R. Tanton, and William Irvin Jr. and her niece Leticia Corens, and her cousin Don Gronewald.
Burial will be in the family plot at the Gridley (Illinois) Cemetery, with graveside services on Monday August 4 at 11:30 am. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation. Calvert – Johnson & Froelich Memorial Homes, El Paso, Illinois, is handling arrangements.
