Muriel Stanhouse

Muriel M. Stanhouse, 83, of Gridley, IL passed away at 8:07 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Christ Community Church, Gridley with Rev. Andy Huette and Rev. Grant Stauter officiating. Burial will follow at Gridley Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the church on Monday. Memorials may be made to the Gridley Food Pantry. Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, El Paso, IL is assisting the family with services.
Muriel was born September 12, 1933 in Baxter, TN the daughter of Oplis and Nettie Shoemaker Waller.
She married Charles “Dick” Stanhouse on October 21, 1966 in Gridley, IL. He survives along with three children Deborah Diller of Madison, WI, Rosie Smallwood of Peoria, and Shari (Adam) Burdick of Gridley; daughter-in-law Heather Stanhouse of El Paso; she has twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. They also raised fifteen foster children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Carlton and two son-in-laws Richard Diller and Jim Smallwood.
She was a member of Christ Community Church in Gridley. Muriel and Dick owned and operated Stan’s Restaurant in Gridley for 25 years. She loved to cook, sew, embroidery, and was a great gospel piano player. She loved growing flowers, her grandkids, cooking for her family and spending time with them.
