Mary E. Ohmart

Mary E. Ohmart, 95 of Normal passed away at 5:07 PM Wednesday August 23, 2017 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal. There will be a private graveside service at Graceland Cemetery in Fairbury at a later date. Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington is handling arrangements. Mary was born April 1, 1922 in Findley, IL to Arthur and Sula Swartz Melcher. She married Donald A. Ohmart November 19, 1942 in St. Louis. They were married for 39 years. He preceded her in death on December 3, 1981 in Fairbury. She was also preceded in death by her son Ray Ohmart in Austin, TX in October 2005. She is survived by four children, Linda Ohmart of Atlanta, GA, Don (Sally) Ohmart of Normal, Craig (Karen) Ohmart of Danvers, and Jeff Ohmart of Bloomington, eight grandchildren Ronnie (Erin) Yabroudy, Danny Yabroudy, Matthew (Kathleen) Yabroudy, Joshua (Dawn) Ohmart, Jeremy (Emily) Ohmart, Daniel Ohmart, Ruth Ohmart, Jennifer (Eric) Immke and seven great-grandchildren, Olivia Yabroudy, Sarah Grace Yabroudy, Thomas Yabroudy, Lucy Yabroudy, Sophia Phillips Ohmart and Willa Phillips Ohmart and Weston Immke. Mary had a strong faith in God. She was a longtime member of the Saunemin United Methodist Church where she was past president of the United Methodist Woman’s Club and also was in the Parent Teacher Association. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, oil painting and gardening. She will be remembered for her smile and positive attitude. With great gratitude the family wishes to thank the staff at Meadows of Mercy Creek and Advocate BroMenn Medical Center for their personal care. Memorial contributions may be made to Saunemin United
Methodist Church.
