Clark W. Roemer, 87, of Lexington, IL passed away at 9:32 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at his home, where he had been ill with heart problems since August.
His family has honored his wish for cremation. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Calvert-Johnson & Musselman Memorial Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Clark was born February 26, 1930 in Alton, IL the son of Arthur B. and Alma V. Leeder Roemer. He came from a large family of seven sisters and five brothers who preceded him in death along with his parents.
He married Vivian C. Roberds on May 9, 1975 in Lexington. She survives along with one son Kenneth Roemer of Rantoul; five step children Danny (Gina) Roberds, Jackie (Mike) Rever, Linda (Steve) Anderson, Greg (Sian) Roberds all of Lexington, and Chuck (Becky) Roberds of Downs. Two grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren.
Clark grew up on a farm and went on to have his own farm in the Saybrook area for many years. He was a man of many talents and occupations during his lifetime. In 1984 he sold his farm and moved to Florida where he worked as head of maintenance at the Naples Beach Resort. In 1993 they moved back to Lexington where he made many friends and went on to use his many skills in the community as a handyman. His love of electrical work kept him busy until he retired in 2016 to take care of his wife who has Alzheimer’s.
He loved the community and many friends he made in Lexington. Memorials may be made to the Lexington Genealogical and Historic Society (The Fort).
