Karen Nelson

Karen Nelson, 75, of Dwight, IL passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at her home in Dwight, IL surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be held from 4pm until 7pm on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Hager Memorial Home in Dwight, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Funeral services and burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Streator, IL at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Hager Memorial Home in Dwight is in charge of arrangements.
Karen was born September 12, 1942 in Dwight, IL a daughter of William R. and Lillian (Seeman) Borglin.
She is survived by son: William “Bill” Nelson of Dwight; daughter, Kimeri (Darrin) Shull of Dwight; stepdaughters, Peggy Mcpherson of Joliet, Lisa Cavanaugh of Joliet; grandchildren, Austin and River Nelson, R.J. Rodrick of Dwight, Amanda Rodrick of Cornell; stepgrandchildren, Stephanie and Ryan Seifer of Kankakee; great grandchildren, Shane and Maverick LeRoy of Cornell; she is also survived by many friends and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepson Thomas Nelson.
She graduated from Streator Township High School and worked locally for R.R. Donnelley, Coils Inc, she was a Dwight Elementary School lunch aide and Clapps Supermarket & Deli.
Karen will be dearly missed by her family, friends and beloved cat Wille.

  1. My father, and Karen’s father were first cousins, so my family spent a lot of time with Bill, Lillian, and Karen. She was two years older than I am, so I always looked to her for guidance-like a big sister. The last few years she and I occasionally connected on Facebook, but more often she would send me lovely e-cards on holidays, and my birthday. She will be missed by all who experienced her kindness and thoughtfulness, and I am one of those people. Nancy Ekstrom Murphy
