Paul Edward Doane, Junior

Paul Edward Doane, Junior, 85 of Monticello, Illinois passed away peacefully July 17, 2017 at his home on the farm he had lived on and loved for nearly 60 years.

 

The Family of Paul Doane will be gathering from the corners of the country for a Celebration of Life, time of sharing November 11, 2017.  The Centerville Methodist Church will host the gathering at 1 PM.  Pastor Cindy Rettig will officiate.  All friends and neighbors are invited to attend and share stories with and “about” the family.  .

Paul is survived by his 3 children: Becky (Bill) Herb, Bruce (Saundra) Doane, and Brian (Denise) Doane; grandchildren: Matthew (Erica) Herb, Joe Doane, Kristen (Will) Holmes, Nichole Doane, Jonathan Doane, Patrick (Tey) Herb, Elizabeth Herb, Dara Ella and Rachel Doane; and great grandchildren: Ashlyn Cafin, Daniel Sullivan and Sydney Herb.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Virginia Ann Doane and their son: Brett Paul Doane.

 

Paul was born September 22, 1931 in Decatur, IL. He worked at Mississippi Valley Steel in Decatur in the early years of his career and finished out his career at Kurland Steel in Urbana, IL. Farming was the joy of his life and he loved a good political debate. He served on the Sangamon Township Board and was a Mason. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and always enjoyed listening to the Boston Pops 4th of July concert celebration. He was also a member of the Centerville Methodist Church.

 

Paul will be dearly missed his family and his friends.

Margaret Laverne Summers

Margaret Laverne Summers, 94 of Monticello, IL passed away 5:40 P.M. August 30, 2017 at Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello, IL.

Graveside services will be 10 A.M. Tuesday September 5, 2017 at Monticello Township Cemetery, Monticello, IL with Rev. Tony Crouch officiating. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, DeLand, IL with arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Piatt County Nursing Home.

Margaret was born April 3, 1923 in Kavito, KY the daughter of Clayton William and Mittie (McLendon) Greenarch. She married Robert Lee Summers in 1938 in Indiana; he passed away August 3, 1995.

Survivors include her children: Lee (Wanda) Summers, Monticello, IL, Ray Summers, Monticello, IL, Cathy Wassom, Monticello, IL; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 sisters and 4 brothers.

Margaret had a big heart and was deeply loved by her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and could out hunt Robert.

Melissa S. Cler

Melissa S. Cler 30 of DeLand, Illinois passed away 6:20 PM June 30, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, Il.

Celebration of Her Life will be 11:30 AM, Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Lodge Church of God, Lodge, IL with Pastor Rickey Spindler officiating. There will be a time of gathering for friends and family from 10 AM – 11:30 AM at the church. Calvert Funeral Home, DeLand, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Melissa was born July 14, 1986 in Champaign, IL the daughter of Max E. and Lori M. (Duncan) Neathery. She married Garret Cler September 18, 2010 in Monticello, IL.

Survivors include her husband, Garret Cler, DeLand, IL; children, Hadley Cler and Maddox Cler at home; parents, Max and Lori Neathery, DeLand, IL; siblings, Libby Neathery, Pesotum, IL and Caleb Neathery, DeLand, IL.

She was preceded in death by her Grandparents, 1 Son, Carson Phillip Cler and 1 Brother, Andrew “Andy” Keith Neathery.

Melissa was a Nurse at Carle Foundtion Hospital for 10 years. She was an avid Cubs fan. Most of all, she loved her family – especially her children.

Reta Joyce Allen

Reta Joyce Allen, 86 of Greenwood, IN formerly of Champaign, IL passed away 5:40 P.M. June 10, 2017 at Aspen Trace, Greenwood, IN.

Services will be 3 P.M. Friday, June 16, 2017 at Calvert Funeral Home, DeLand, IL. Burial will follow at DeLand Cemetery, DeLand, IL. Visitation will be 2-3 P.M. Friday prior to services.

Reta was born July 8, 1930 in Heyworth, IL the daughter of William and Hazell Irene (Russ) Francisco.

Survivors include her son: Todd (Martha) Allen, Bargersville, IN; 5 Grandchildren; and 8 Great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 daughter: Reta Lynn Englehardt, Sioux Falls, SD, passed in 2011; 4 brothers: Harald, Bill, Charles, and Earl; 5 sisters: Dolly, Susie, Mary, Annie, and Agnus; 4 half-brothers and half-sisters.

Reta retired from Kraft foods in 1992. She enjoyed golfing, going to garage sales, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Nola Hunter

Nola Hunter 67 of Monticello, Illinois passed away 8:55 AM April 17, 2016 at Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello, Il.

Services will be 11 AM, Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Deland, Il. with Rev. Lee Ann Thais officiating. Burial will follow at DeLand Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 Hour prior to the services on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the funeral home.

Nola was born January 2, 1949 in Monticello, Il., the daughter of George and Margaret (White) Buchanan. She married Frank Hunter March 3, 1967 in DeLand, Il.

Survivors include her Husband, Frank Hunter, Monticello, Il., Children, Tim Hunter, Tilton, Il., Jack Hunter, Monticello, Il., Donna Hunter, White Heath, Il., Heather Hunter, Monticello, Il., 1 Grandson, Delsen Hunter, White Heath, Il., Brothers and Sister, Keith (Loretta) Buchanan, DeWitt, Il., Benne (Virginia) Buchanan, Farmer City, Il., Nancy (David) Brown, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her Parents and 5 Brothers.

Nola was a homemaker enjoying crafts, gardening and baking. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Curtis Bowman 38 of DeLand, Illinois passed away 4:23 AM April 12, 2017 at Kirby Hospital, Monticello, IL.

Services will be 11 AM, Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Calvert Funeral Home, DeLand, IL with Scott Marsh officiating. Cremation rites will follow. Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM, Saturday at the funeral home.

Curtis was born September 15, 1978 in Indianapolis, IN the son of Donald and Dixie (Morris) Bowman. He married Sara Bledsoe January 10, 2010 in Indianapolis, IN.

Johnny B. Burton

Johnny B. Burton 86 of DeLand, Illinois passed away 7:02 AM February 28, 2017 at his family residence, DeLand, IL.

Johnny was born May 9, 1930 in Delmar, KY the son of Benjamin Shelby and Charitie Belle (Burton) Burton. He married Susie Kelley June 17, 1950 in Science Hill, KY.

Survivors include his wife, Susie Burton, DeLand, IL; daughters: C. Lanette (Phil) Holdcroft, Champaign, IL and Ruby A. (Leonard Riquelme) Hottinger, Indianapolis, IN; 3 Grandchildren; 4 Great-Grandchildren; sisters: Vernia Brock, KY and Rhodia Stevens, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Johnny was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Monticello, IL. His biggest enjoyment in life was his grandchildren.

Clement Wayne Blazek

Wayne Blazek 77 of Weldon, IL passed away 10:14 AM December 1, 2016 at Farmer City Rehab & Health Care Center, Farmer City, IL.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be 10 AM, Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Weldon Cemetery, Weldon, IL with Marc Rogers, AM Vets chaplain, officiating. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Wayne was born July 9, 1939 in Yankton, S.D. the son of Clement and Mildred (Howe) Blazek and raised by his paternal grandparents, Joe and Sylvia Blazek.

He married Linda Bradley March 8, 1965 in New London, CT.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Blazek, Weldon, IL; children: Joe (Jean) Blazek, Weldon, IL and Kenny (Kris) Blazek, Mansfield, IL; 4 grandchildren: Josh, Amber, Sam, and Haley; 1 great-granddaughter, Lola; brother, Mike Blazek, Hilo, HI.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Arnold.

Wayne retired from the US Navy as well as being a retired carpenter and a private pilot.

Rex H. Kallembach, Sr.

Rex H. Kallembach, Sr. 83 of Monticello, IL passed away 11:22 PM September 1, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.

Services will be 12 Noon Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Calvert Funeral Home, DeLand, IL with Pastor Randy Hinshaw officiating. Burial will follow at DeLand Cemetery, DeLand, IL. Visitation will be 10 – 12 Noon Tuesday at the funeral home.

Rex was born May 1, 1933 in DeLand, IL the son of Louis E. and Monzella Stella (Vaughn) Kallembach, Sr. He married Barbara Ann Taylor January 11, 1958 in DeLand, IL. She passed away November 30, 1990. He later married Juanita Rex June 30 1995 in Clinton, IL.

Survivors include his wife: Juanita Kallembach, Monticello, IL, children: Valerie Kay Pontious, Mahomet, IL, Rex Henry (Bonnie) Kallemback, Jr., Champaign, IL, Sandra Lynne (Kevin) Huddleston, Bement, IL, William Robert Kallembach, Monticello, IL; step-children: Doug (Patty) Rex, Monticello, IL, Janice (Steve) Pruitt, Bement, IL; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and sister: Barbara (Rob Roy) Twist, Clinton, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson: Richard Pontious; 7 brothers and 3 sisters.

Rex worked for General Cable for 35 years. He enjoyed gardening, mowing the yard, helping people and especially his grandchildren.

Catherine Elaine (Scroggins) Summar

Catherine Elaine (Scroggins) Summar 73 of Bement, IL passed away 4:24 PM June 20, 2016 at her family residence, Bement, IL surrounded by her family.

Celebration of life services for John and Catherine Summar will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Bement United Methodist Church with Pastor Lenny Summar officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM on Saturday, until the service time of 10:30 AM at the church. Burial will follow at the Bement Township Cemetery. Calvert Funeral Home DeLand assisted the family with cremation rites.

Catherine was born November 26, 1942 in Decatur, IL the daughter of William E. and Alice E. (Jones) Scroggins. She married John Patterson Summar December 9, 1961 in Marshall, IL. He passed away May 7, 2007.

Survivors include her children, Lenny (Sandra) Summar, Bement, IL, and Robert W. Summar, Bement, IL; 11 Grandchildren and 19 Great-Grandchildren; sister, Doris (Bill) Gustafson, Monticello, IL, brother, William E. Scroggins, Fort Myers, FL; half-brother, Billy Gene Scroggins, Cape Coral, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William E. Scroggins and Alice E. (Dwight) Lukens, and 1 son, John P. Summar II.
