Eileen Catherine Edwards 87 of Maroa, Illinois passed away 2:15 PM November 4, 2017 at the Eastern Star Home, Macon, IL.

Services to celebrate Eileen’s life will be 11 AM, Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL with Greg Taylor officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM, Friday at Mottarville Cemetery, Rochester, IL. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.

Eileen was born October 7, 1930 in Springfield, IL the daughter of William H. and Clara Agnes (Schmidt) Ryan. She married Charles “Don” Edwards October 15, 1948 in Springfield, IL. He passed away December 16, 2008.

Survivors include her children: David E. (Rose) Edwards, Nicholasville, KY; Carole L. Barnhorst, Greenwood, IN; Darla Rae (Roger) Wiseman, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; siblings: Mary E. Springer, Springfield, IL; Carolyn Vancil, Springfield, IL.; William J. Ryan, Murphysboro, IL; Donna Ryan Neuman, Chatham, IL; and special caregiver, and longtime family friend, Larry Pumphrey, Maroa, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and one brothers.

Eileen was a retired secretary. She was a member of the Hazlemere Chapter #221 O.E.S., Taylorville, IL. She loved to do arts and crafts, sew, and cook.

Roger D. Garren

Roger D. Garren 69 of Maroa, IL passed away 3:52 PM September 25, 2016 at the John Warner Health & Services, Clinton, IL.

Services will be 11 A.M. Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL with Keith Merriman officiating. Burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL. Visitation will be 10 – 11 A.M. Friday at the funeral home in Maroa, IL.

Roger was born April 1, 1947 in Decatur, IL the son of Clifford and Deloris E. (Hall) Garren.

Survivors include his siblings: Helen (Robert) Defebaugh, Clinton, IL; Richard Garren, Maroa, IL, Rose Coffman, Lincoln, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 nephew.

Roger enjoyed denim quilt making and was an avid coin collector.

Ronald “Ron” E. Holland

Ronald “Ron” E. Holland 81 of Maroa, Illinois died peacefully surrounded by family at 1:17 PM August 15, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, Illinois.

Services will be 10 AM, Monday, August 21, 2017 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, Il. with Scott Marsh officiating. Burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, Il. Visitation will be 3 – 5 PM, Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the funeral home with Masonic services at 5 PM.

Ron was born June 14, 1936 in Wapella, IL the son of Paul and Martha (Collins) Holland. He married Joyce Haenny February 11, 1956 in Clinton, Il.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Holland, Maroa, IL; Children, Steve (Jean) Holland, Decatur, IL; Barb Hill, Moweaqua, IL; 3 Grandchildren, Alex (Angela) Holland, Springfield, IL; Trevor (Rachel) Holland, Carmel, IN; Callie (Donald) Hill, Moweaqua, IL; Step-Granddaughter, Kelly Gamble, Pelham, Alabama; 3
Step-Great-Grandchildren; Siblings, Betty Ellis, Clinton, IL; Kathy (Vernon) Meadows, Wapella, IL.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, 3 Brothers and 1 Sister.

Ron was a member of the Maroa Christian Church. He owned and operated R.E. Holland Contracting for 50 years where he did Industrial painting and sandblasting. Ron also developed Holland Mobile Home Park, Maroa, IL in 1973. He was a 54 year member of the Maroa Masonic Lodge #454 A.F. & A.M. and also was a member of the Shriner’s and Consistory.

Margaret E. (LaMar) Werner

Margaret E. (LaMar) Werner 86 of Maroa, Illinois passed away 3:33 PM June 20, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

Services will be 10 AM, Monday, June 26, 2017 at Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL with Rob Talbot officiating. Burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM, Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the funeral home.

Margaret was born July 31, 1930 in Latham, IL the daughter of Wendell and Sarah (Hays) Duncan. She married Bertel Beard “Blue” LaMar September 3, 1948. He passed away July 8, 1969.

Survivors include her children: Juanita (James) Bona, Florence, AZ; Danny (Charlotte) LaMar, Maroa, IL; and Darla (Rob) Talbot, Mesa, AZ; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, and 7 sisters.

F. Marie Anderson

F. Marie Anderson 84 of Maroa, IL passed away 9:50 AM May 6, 2017 at her family residence, Maroa, IL.

Services will be 11 AM, Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL with Pastor Mark Yeske officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Cemetery, Maroa, IL. Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM Friday at the funeral home.

Marie was born August 14, 1932 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Herschel and Icie Fair (Knott) Madden. She married Harry O. Anderson January 27, 1953 in Decatur, IL. He passed away January 12, 1995.

Survivors include her children: Phyliss E. (Robert) Covey, Maroa, IL, Mary Jane (Steve) Johnston, Plano, TX; brother: Michael (Sharon) Madden, Portland, TN; 4 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, 1 son, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Marie was a member of the Maroa United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Mt. Zion, IL, Rebekah Lodge and the DeWitt County Home Extension. She was a Nurse’s Aide in home health care and she volunteered at Decatur Memorial Hospital for several years.

The family would to extend a special thank you to Safe Have Hospice; especially Missy and Shantiale.

Marjorie Lois Shipp

Marjorie Lois Shipp 87 of Maroa, IL went home to be with her Lord and Savior 11:36 AM April 6, 2017 at her family residence, Maroa, IL with her loving husband by her side.

Private family graveside services will be Monday, April 10, 2017 at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL with Pastor Nathan Shaulis officiating. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL with arrangements.

Marjorie was born October 4, 1929 in Little York, IL the daughter of Donald D. and Lillie M. (Sturdivant) Carpenter. She married Frederick W. Shipp September 3, 1949 in Havana, IL.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years: Fred Shipp, Maroa, Il.; children: Lois (Rickey) Cavender, Austin, AR, Frederick Shipp, Macon, IL, Lillie (Tom) Barker, Oreana, IL and Leon (Dana Fisher) Shipp, Macon, IL; grandchildren: Michelle (Jon) Spoor, Kasey (Adam) Elkins, Quentin Tombaugh, Joshua (Heather) Tombaugh, Nicholis Shipp, Jeffrey (Shelby) Barker, Jeremy (Jordan) Barker, Levi Shipp, and Katie Shipp, 12 great grandchildren and one due in September; brother: George (Irene) Carpenter and sister: Irma Burrill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Roy and Rueben Carpenter and many other loved ones.

Mom was a hard worker; she and dad, worked side by side to build the house they lived in since 1962. She loved to tend to her garden, orchard, and raspberry patch.

She loved to hang her laundry outside on the line and may have said a prayer for you on laundry day; as she had written the names of friends and family on her clothes pins. Also she liked to can, sew and quilt. In her younger years, she enjoyed hunting and fishing with her parents, brothers and uncle, Leon Carpenter.

She was a member of the Harvest Community Church of Maroa and a life member of the Decatur Quilt Guild.

William Stanley Sinkosky

William Stanley Sinkosky 84 of Maroa, IL passed away 6:15 PM March 2, 2017 at Farmer City Rehab & Health Care, Farmer City, Il.

Services will be 10 AM, Monday, March 6, 2017 at Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, Il. with Pastor Nic Showalter officiating. Burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL with Military Honors. Visitation will be 4 – 6 PM, Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL.

William was born February 18, 1933 in Springfield, IL the son of William S. and Vernetta E. (Deatherage) Sinkosky. He married Ellen Marie Agee January 16, 1953 in Argenta, IL. She passed away November 26, 2013.

Survivors include his children, Tony Sinkosky, Monticello, Il.; Tim (Cindy) Sinkosky, Maroa, Il.; Tamara (Kevin) Ripley, Argenta, Il.; 7 Grandchildren, Cara (Chris) Doak, Lisa (Blake) Doss, Michael Ripley, Bradley Ripley, Laura Ripley, Antanas Sinkosky and Maximus Sinkosky; 2 Great-Grandchildren, Brady
Doss & Drake Doss; and one great-granddaughter on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Connie Casey; and one daughter-in-law, Rhonda Killian Sinkosky.

William served in the US Army from 1953-1955. He was a farmer and building and repair contractor.

Nancy B. Day

Nancy B. Day 78 of Maroa, IL passed away 3:20 AM February 18, 2017 in her home surrounded by family.

Services will be 10 A.M. Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Nic Showalter officiating. Burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 P.M. Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the funeral home.

Nancy was born February 14, 1939 in DeWitt County the daughter of Gilbert and Alice (Armstrong) Florey. She married Maurice W. Day July 28, 1956 in Clinton, IL.

Survivors include her husband: Maurice W. Day, Maroa, IL; sons: Michael (Kim) Day, Decatur, IL and Les (Jenny) Day, Herrick, IL; daughter: Pamela (John) Vogel, Decatur, IL; grandchildren: Andrea Cullison, Stephanie Kiley, Heather Hodges and Melanie Casner; 7 great grandchildren and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son Melvin Day.

Nancy’s greatest joy in life was her family; she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves behind many broken hearts and will be truly missed by all that knew her. Nancy had retired from Kay’s Merchandise in Decatur, IL.

Marjorie R. Beal, 96 of Decatur, IL passed away 9:25 P.M. January 26, 2017 at Primrose Retirement Community, Decatur, IL.

Marjorie was born November 12, 1920 in Oswego, IL the daughter of Robert and Florence (Ebenger) Hall. She married Loren W. Beal August 15, 1942. He passed away July 9, 2012.

Survivors include her sons: David (Soheila) Beal and Andrew (Sarah) Beal; daughters-in-law: Debby and Patricia; grandchildren: Krista, Amy, Jenny, Alison, Kate, Robert, and Allison; great grandchildren: Makenzie, Bennett, Joshua, Josiah, Rebecca, Kaley, Ryan, Natalie, Tyler, Zoey, Hunter, Skylar, Ashlyn and 1 great grandchild on the way. Along with one brother: Everett (Fern) Hall surviving.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sons: Kenneth H. and John P. Beal.

Marjorie graduated from U of I with a degree in Library Science. She enjoyed reading, traveling, flowers and nature.

William was born February 11, 1959 in Lincoln, IL the son of Ralph William and Judith (Fortner) Henderson.

William was a construction contractor and all around “Mr. Fixit”.
