Ruth Ann Brown 82 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 6:04 PM October 26, 2017 at the Warner Hospital & Health Services, Clinton, IL.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Illinois assisted the family with cremation rites.

Ruth was born September 9, 1935 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Harry Troy and Sally Frances (Crutcher) Dubson. She married Richard E. Brown August 6, 1981 in Clinton, IL.

Survivors include her husband: Richard E. Brown, Clinton, IL; children: Wendi Lowe, Clinton, IL; Richard Todd (Julie) Brown, Clinton, IL; Tiffany McLaughlin, Decatur, IL; Billy Jo Riggs, Clinton, IL; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; one sister: Patty (Glen) Reynolds, Clinton, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.

Ruth was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She loved to play Bingo and was a foster parent.

Sandra O. Smith

Sandra O. Smith 77 of Maroa, IL, a devoted servant of God, passed from this earthly life into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at 10:52 PM October 26, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

Services will be 11 A.M. Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL with Gary Mosley officiating. Burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL. Visitation will be 3 – 5 P.M. Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the funeral home.

Sandra was born February 13, 1940 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Neysa Beckemier. She married Ellis Leroy Smith December 21, 1958 in Cerro Gordo, IL. He passed away in May 25, 1990.

Survivors include her children: Janet (Jane Porter) Elliott, Fayetteville, NC; Linda (Mike) Baker, Forsyth, IL, Jeffery Smith, Dalton City, IL, Shelly (James) Fields, Wentzville, MO, Donna (Fiancé: Steven Wood) Smith, Wagoneer, IL; 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son: Daniel Smith, 1 great grandson: David Smith, Jr., and daughter-in-law: Tammy Smith.

Sandra retired from Maroa Forsyth School Dist. She was a 50 year member of the Harvest Community Church in Maroa, and was a breast cancer survivor.

The family wishes to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Timothy Miller and the Cardiac Staff on the 5th floor at DMH for their loving care during a difficult time.

Dixie J. Montgomery

Dixie J. Montgomery 80 of Clinton, IL passed away 5:05 A.M. October 22, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.

Services will be 1 P.M. Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL with J. Kent Hickerson and Scott Marsh officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Dixie was born July 27, 1937 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Charles A. and Bette (Adams) Anderson. She married Gregory Montgomery March 2, 1957 in Clinton, Il.

Survivors include her husband: Gregory Montgomery, Clinton, IL; children: Mark Montgomery, Bloomington, IL; Sterling (Stephanie) Montgomery, Catlin, IL; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother: Charles “Chick” Anderson, Boise, ID and sister: Jill Ann Zollman, Evansville, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Dixie retired from Eureka Company in Bloomington, IL. She was the organist at the First Christian Church in Clinton for over 60 years and played for countless weddings and funerals.

She loved to crochet and sing in the choir. She was very dedicated to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

William Norris “Bill” Johnson

William Norris “Bill” Johnson 71 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 2:22 PM October 21, 2017 at Kindred Hospital, Peoria, IL with his wife Pat and daughter Kathy by his side.

Services will be 11 A.M. Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Edward Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Heyworth Cemetery, Heyworth, IL Visitation will be 10 – 11 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Bill was born May 14, 1946 in Lincoln, NB the son of Bert and Florence (Hunter) Johnson. He married Pat Sweet October 1, 1987 in Bloomington, IL.

Survivors include his wife: Pat Johnson; children: Tina Marie, Kathleen Dawn, Rebecca Ann, William Earl, Lisa Kae, and Randall Scott; siblings: Deloris Strohkirch, Wanda Jean Elsner; 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Raymond and Merle Johnson and 2 sisters: Kay Hulvey and Janice Woodall.

William Ray Martin

William Ray Martin 96 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 3:15 PM October 18, 2017 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

Ray was born July 30, 1921 in Wapella Township, DeWitt County, IL the son of Clarence and Myrtle (Taylor) Martin.

Surviving is his special companion of 34 years, Betty Jean Clark, Clinton, IL; Betty’s daughters and granddaughter whom he treated as his own, Deanna (Mike) Spencer, Clinton, IL; Londa Dunlap, Bloomington, IL; Stevi Lee Dunlap. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, 1 Brother and 2 Sisters.

Ray was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton, Il. He served his country proudly during WW II in the Army. He had retired from the Clinton School District as a bus mechanic. He enjoyed his family and traveling with Betty.

Richard R. Tuggle

Richard R. Tuggle 92 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 3:05 PM October 17, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, Illinois.

Services will be 11 A.M. Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with J. Kent Hickerson and David Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 P.M. Friday, October 20, 2017 at the funeral home.

Dick was born July 28, 1925 in Creek Township, DeWitt County, IL the son of Fred and Alice (Willson) Tuggle. He married Marjorie L. Massey November 30, 1947 in DeWitt County, IL. She passed away July 13, 2008.

Survivors include his children: Steve (Becki) Tuggle, Clinton, IL, Stan (Barb) Tuggle, Clinton, IL, Stephanie (Bill) Boyd, Clinton, IL; 7 grandchildren: Chad Tuggle, Courtney Tuggle Heisel, Tricia Tuggle Cooper, Rich Tuggle, Kyle Tuggle, Kari Medler Martin, Abby Medler Floy, 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother: Robert Tuggle, Downers Grove, Il. He is also survived by his special friend Betty Gaultney and their dog Sam.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, 1 granddaughter: Kimberly Tuggle Cooley, Siblings, Harrold Tuggle, Mildred Riddle, Margaret Nixon and JohnTuggle.

Dick was a member of First Christian Church, Clinton, IL. He served in the Navy 1944 – 1947. He and Marjorie farmed many years before retiring and moving to town in 1980. He was President of the Weldon Co-Op Board from 1977 – 1985. He served on the DeWitt County Board of Review, The Clinton School Board and was a member of the DeWitt County Farm Bureau. He was the Secretary of the Elks Club for several years and a longtime member of the Clinton Country Club. Dick enjoyed traveling with the Young At Heart, especially going to plays and traveling to Branson, Mo. He loved eating out with friends and visiting for hours at a time. He always had a jigsaw puzzle in progress. Dick enjoyed life to the fullest everyday and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Even though his passing has left a deep hole in our hearts we are comforted by knowing he lived his long life to the fullest.

The family would like to thank the Doctors and staff at Decatur Memorial Hospital for their loving care during such a difficult time.

Dorothy Arlene Huff

Dorothy was born July 27, 1940 in Warrensburg, IL the daughter of Carl and Betty Jean (Sturgeon) Binkley. She married Robert Huff, Sr. June 16, 1957 in Clinton, IL. He passed away in 1993.

Survivors include her children: Michelle O’Neal, Decatur, IL; Robert Huff, Jr., Texas; Carl Huff, Michigan; David (Jackie) Huff, Medford, OR; Brad Huff, Tacoma, WA; Debbie (Doug) Rowlan, Tacoma, WA, 12 Grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and sister: Nancy (Larry) Tuttle, Decatur, IL.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Son-in-Law: Allen, Grandson: Matthew, and two brothers: Thomas and Jack Binkley.

Martha M. Waldron

Martha M. Waldron 96 of DeWitt, Illinois passed away 8:50 AM October 9, 2017 at her family residence, DeWitt, IL.

Martha was born December 4, 1920 in DeWitt, IL the daughter of Everett and Lena (Dowell) Clymer. She married Arthur “Buck” Waldron February 9, 1940 in East St. Louis, IL. He passed away September 13, 1974.

Survivors include her daughters: Nancy Dyer, Clinton, IL and Penny Pasqualucci, Bloomington, IL; grandchildren: Phillip Dyer, Clinton, IL, Jennifer (Ryan) Benson, Clinton, IL, Amber (Gerald) Rucker, Minot, ND and Briana (Rodney) Bolton, Rapid City, SD; 4 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son: Jerry Waldron, 5 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Martha was a Post Master for 31 years at the DeWitt, IL Post Office. She loved flowers, gardening, quilting and animals.

Audrey J. Massey

Audrey J. Massey 87 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 1:35 A.M. October 7, 2017 at The Christian Village, Lincoln, IL.

Audrey was born October 23, 1929 in Walnut Grove, IL the daughter of Oren and Lela Madge (Baker) Bundy. She married William Junior Massey February 7, 1947 in Piggott, Arkansas. He passed away November 18, 2010.

Larry Lee Helton

Larry was born May 23, 1940 in Weldon, IL the son of Harold and Lavone (Fleming) Helton. He married Gail Ann Wheeler November 6, 1981 in Weldon, IL.

Survivors include his wife: Gail Ann Helton, Weldon, IL; children: Chris (Karen) Helton, Arthur, IL, Steve (Cindy) Helton, Arthur, IL, Tami (Roger) Sanders, Mattoon, IL, Colin West, Weldon, IL and Christan (Eric) Smith, Weldon, IL; grandchildren: Andrew (Jessica) Hopkins, Arthur, IL, AnneMarie Hopkins, Robinson, IL, Mitchell Helton, Arthur, IL, Kaylee and Morgan Hampton, Mattoon, IL, Ty, Alex, Ethan, Aiden and Asher Smith, Weldon, IL; great grandchildren: Drake and Evyn Hopkins, Arthur, IL; sister: Shirley Utterback, Clinton, IL, twin sister: Linda Nurnberger, Broken Arrow, OK; brother: Richard Helton, Weldon, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Victoria Burge, infant brother: William, grandchildren: Mollie Hampton and Blake Smith.

Larry was a building contractor for over 45 years. He was member of the Weldon Fire Department for over 40 years; Weldon Lions Club for over 40 years; Friends Creek Township Drainage Commissioner for over 25 years; and the Nixon Township Road Commissioner for over 39 years. He had been a past mayor of Weldon. He was instrumental in the designing and building of the Weldon Library. Larry’s entire life was dedicated to making Weldon a better community.

Larry enjoyed fishing and camping at the Taylorville Lake.
