Ramona Joan Irvin 89 of Kenney, Illinois passed away 12:28 AM November 5, 2017 at the Warner Hospital & Health Services, Clinton, IL.

Services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 9:30 – 10:30 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Kenney Christian Church or the Kenney Heritage Foundation.

Joan was born October 22, 1928 in rural Kenney, IL the daughter of Harold and Delta (Kemp) Ferry. When Joan was two years old her mother died and she was adopted by her great uncle and aunt, Ivon and Helen Kemp. She married Wilbur Irvin December 25, 1951 in Kenney, IL.

Survivors include her husband, Wilbur Irvin, Kenney, IL; sons: Robert Irvin, Clinton, IL; Roger (Paula) Irvin, Kenney, IL; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Norman.

Joan was a homemaker and a member of the Kenney Christian Church.

Eileen Catherine Edwards

Eileen Catherine Edwards 87 of Maroa, Illinois passed away 2:15 PM November 4, 2017 at the Eastern Star Home, Macon, IL.

Services to celebrate Eileen’s life will be 11 AM, Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL with Greg Taylor officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM, Friday at Mottarville Cemetery, Rochester, IL. There will be no visitation.

Eileen was born October 7, 1930 in Springfield, IL the daughter of William H. and Clara Agnes (Schmidt) Ryan. She married Charles “Don” Edwards October 15, 1948 in Springfield, IL. He passed away December 16, 2008.

Survivors include her children: David E. (Rose) Edwards, Nicholasville, KY; Carole L. Barnhorst, Greenwood, IN; Darla Rae (Roger) Wiseman, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; siblings: Mary E. Springer, Springfield, IL; Carolyn Vancil, Springfield, IL.; William J. Ryan, Murphysboro, IL; Donna Ryan Neuman, Chatham, IL; and special caregiver, and longtime family friend, Larry Pumphrey, Maroa, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and one brothers.

Eileen was a retired secretary. She was a member of the Hazlemere Chapter #221 O.E.S., Taylorville, IL. She loved to do arts and crafts, sew, and cook.

Jerry Allen Davenport

Jerry Allen Davenport 70 of Forsyth, IL passed away 6:54 PM October 29, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

Services will be 10 A.M. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Bruce Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL with Military Honors. Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the funeral home.

Jerry was born March 19, 1947 in Decatur, IL the son of Raymond E. Davenport, Sr. He married Sandy McCool on June 4, 1967 in Forsyth, IL.

Survivors include his wife: Sandy Davenport, Forsyth, IL; Children: Nicholas Allen Davenport, Maroa, IL, Matthew Allen (Melissa) Davenport, Maroa, IL; 4 grandchildren: Devvon Davenport, Maxwell Allen Davenport, Evan Creek, and Sophia Morgan Davenport; one brother: Raymond E. (Judy) Davenport, Jr.,
Pittsfield, IL; several nieces and nephews also survive; and best-friends: Frank and Diane Friend also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father; daughter: Melinda Sue Davenport; granddaughter: Morgan Rene’ Davenport; brother: Clinton Davenport; sister: Shirley Ann Taylor; aunt: Mildred “Mike” Hance; and step-mother: Betty Davenport.

Jerry worked and retired from Caterpillar Inc. He was an Air Force Veteran, volunteer fireman, and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, and doing woodcarvings. Jerry loved to go fishing, do oil paintings, and attend his grandchildren’s activities.

Paul Edward Doane, Junior

Paul Edward Doane, Junior, 85 of Monticello, Illinois passed away peacefully July 17, 2017 at his home on the farm he had lived on and loved for nearly 60 years.

 

The Family of Paul Doane will be gathering from the corners of the country for a Celebration of Life, time of sharing November 11, 2017.  The Centerville Methodist Church will host the gathering at 1 PM.  Pastor Cindy Rettig will officiate.  All friends and neighbors are invited to attend and share stories with and “about” the family.  .

Paul is survived by his 3 children: Becky (Bill) Herb, Bruce (Saundra) Doane, and Brian (Denise) Doane; grandchildren: Matthew (Erica) Herb, Joe Doane, Kristen (Will) Holmes, Nichole Doane, Jonathan Doane, Patrick (Tey) Herb, Elizabeth Herb, Dara Ella and Rachel Doane; and great grandchildren: Ashlyn Cafin, Daniel Sullivan and Sydney Herb.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Virginia Ann Doane and their son: Brett Paul Doane.

 

Paul was born September 22, 1931 in Decatur, IL. He worked at Mississippi Valley Steel in Decatur in the early years of his career and finished out his career at Kurland Steel in Urbana, IL. Farming was the joy of his life and he loved a good political debate. He served on the Sangamon Township Board and was a Mason. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and always enjoyed listening to the Boston Pops 4th of July concert celebration. He was also a member of the Centerville Methodist Church.

 

Paul will be dearly missed his family and his friends.

Steven Mac Cook

Steven Mac Cook 66 of Decatur, Illinois passed away 7:37 PM October 28, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, Illinois.

A celebration of his life will be held from 2 – 4 P.M. Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Argenta Community Building.  The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, IL with cremation rites.

Steven was born June 28, 1951 in Decatur, IL the son of Bob and Norma (LeHew) Cook.

Survivors include his father and step-mother: Bob and June Cook, Loxely, AL; sister and brother-in-law: Tara and John Fornear, Argenta, IL; nephew and nieces: Audra Heckwine, Adam Fornear, Erin Fornear and Morgan Fornear.

He was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents.

Steven was a 1969 graduate of Argenta-Oreana High School.

David Lee Moore

David Lee Moore 76 of Clinton, IL passed away 10:15 AM October 27, 2017 at his family residence, Clinton, IL.

David was born February 10, 1941 in DeWitt County, IL the son of F. Wilson and Margaret M. (Frantz) Moore. He married Rita A. Brown June 27, 1964 in Clinton, IL. She passed away November 19, 2007.

Survivors include his children: Erin L. (Kevin) Cook, Monticello, IL, Mark J. (Angela) Moore, Lubbock, TX; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; siblings: Dan Moore, Clinton, IL, Doris Ann (Arnold) Hawkins-Coffey, Russell Springs, KY, Dorothy Hanna, Mahomet, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son: Shawn Patrick Moore and 1 brother: Richard.

David served his country proudly in the Navy from 1959 – 1963 aboard the USS Midway as an E4.

David had worked for Kolp Servi-Soft and Revere Copper & Brass Inc. in Clinton and retired from Illinois Power in 2003.

Ruth Ann Brown

Ruth Ann Brown 82 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 6:04 PM October 26, 2017 at the Warner Hospital & Health Services, Clinton, IL.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Illinois assisted the family with cremation rites.

Ruth was born September 9, 1935 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Harry Troy and Sally Frances (Crutcher) Dubson. She married Richard E. Brown August 6, 1981 in Clinton, IL.

Survivors include her husband: Richard E. Brown, Clinton, IL; children: Wendi Lowe, Clinton, IL; Richard Todd (Julie) Brown, Clinton, IL; Tiffany McLaughlin, Decatur, IL; Billy Jo Riggs, Clinton, IL; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; one sister: Patty (Glen) Reynolds, Clinton, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.

Ruth was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She loved to play Bingo and was a foster parent.

Sandra O. Smith

Sandra O. Smith 77 of Maroa, IL, a devoted servant of God, passed from this earthly life into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at 10:52 PM October 26, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

Services will be 11 A.M. Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL with Gary Mosley officiating. Burial will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL. Visitation will be 3 – 5 P.M. Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the funeral home.

Sandra was born February 13, 1940 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Neysa Beckemier. She married Ellis Leroy Smith December 21, 1958 in Cerro Gordo, IL. He passed away in May 25, 1990.

Survivors include her children: Janet (Jane Porter) Elliott, Fayetteville, NC; Linda (Mike) Baker, Forsyth, IL, Jeffery Smith, Dalton City, IL, Shelly (James) Fields, Wentzville, MO, Donna (Fiancé: Steven Wood) Smith, Wagoneer, IL; 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son: Daniel Smith, 1 great grandson: David Smith, Jr., and daughter-in-law: Tammy Smith.

Sandra retired from Maroa Forsyth School Dist. She was a 50 year member of the Harvest Community Church in Maroa, and was a breast cancer survivor.

The family wishes to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Timothy Miller and the Cardiac Staff on the 5th floor at DMH for their loving care during a difficult time.

Dixie J. Montgomery

Dixie J. Montgomery 80 of Clinton, IL passed away 5:05 A.M. October 22, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.

Dixie was born July 27, 1937 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Charles A. and Bette (Adams) Anderson. She married Gregory Montgomery March 2, 1957 in Clinton, Il.

Survivors include her husband: Gregory Montgomery, Clinton, IL; children: Mark Montgomery, Bloomington, IL; Sterling (Stephanie) Montgomery, Catlin, IL; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother: Charles “Chick” Anderson, Boise, ID and sister: Jill Ann Zollman, Evansville, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Dixie retired from Eureka Company in Bloomington, IL. She was the organist at the First Christian Church in Clinton for over 60 years and played for countless weddings and funerals.

She loved to crochet and sing in the choir. She was very dedicated to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

William Norris “Bill” Johnson

William Norris “Bill” Johnson 71 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 2:22 PM October 21, 2017 at Kindred Hospital, Peoria, IL with his wife Pat and daughter Kathy by his side.

Services will be 11 A.M. Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Edward Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Heyworth Cemetery, Heyworth, IL Visitation will be 10 – 11 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Bill was born May 14, 1946 in Lincoln, NB the son of Bert and Florence (Hunter) Johnson. He married Pat Sweet October 1, 1987 in Bloomington, IL.

Survivors include his wife: Pat Johnson; children: Tina Marie, Kathleen Dawn, Rebecca Ann, William Earl, Lisa Kae, and Randall Scott; siblings: Deloris Strohkirch, Wanda Jean Elsner; 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Raymond and Merle Johnson and 2 sisters: Kay Hulvey and Janice Woodall.
